The Ionic (2) was built in 1902 by Harland & Wolff Ltd. in Belfast. She had a tonnage of 12,232 tons gross, 11,395 under deck and 7,826 net. She had one funnel, twin screws, 4 masts, 4 decks and was fitted with electric light and refrigerating machinery. She had water ballast. Fitted with quadruple expansion engines with 8 cylinders of 22, 31 1/2, 46 and 66 inches diameter each pair. Stroke 48 inches, delivering 604 nominal horsepower, giving the ship a speed of 14 knots. The engines was built by Harland & Wolff. She had accommodation for 121-1st, 117-2nd and 450-3rd class passengers. Launched on May 22nd, 1903, and sailed on her maiden voyage from London to Wellington. 1917 - 1919 under Liner Requisition Scheme. Transferred to Shaw Savill & Albion in 1932. Broken up in 1937.
