Here is a candidate.

Nicoline Olsen
in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Name: Nicoline Olsen
Arrival Date: 18 Sep 1871
Birth Date: abt 1848
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Swedish
Place of Origin: Sweden
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Destination: United States of America
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: City of London

And maybe that same person leaving Norway. However she is traveling to Lansing?

https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/gen/vis/8/pe00000000413218

She seem to be traveling with a Carl Johan Olsen next passenger in the record.

Ole Olsen, Fjeldhaugstuen and Nicoline Rasmusdatter, Lund were married May 29 1849, see #21.
Parish record for the baptism of the daughter Nicoline is #200.
The mother died in childbirth, see #91.

The father carpenter and weelwright Ole Olsen moved out of Stange May 1850 and emigrated to USA, see #23.
If I read it right, he brought the daughter with him.

Einar,

Thank you for the links! It's a lot of information to take in. We were unaware Nicoline Rasmussdatter had died in childbirth. If Nicoline Olsdatter traveled to America with Ole she would have been a one year old child and I would think Ole would need help in caring for her? Perhaps one of Nicoline's sisters or Ole's siblings took her in? Could you translate the emigration entry for Ole and where is might indicate Nicoline traveled with him? Thanks!

I wonder if this could be Ole Olsen Sollie-Ødegaarden?
Bark Sjøfna, leaving Drammen late July/early August 1850, arriving New York Sep. 21.
#148 Ole Olsen 25 m Between deck

Line above: #147 Syver Knudsen 27 m Between deck
Could be Syver Knudsen Ramsæt, listed below Ole in the leaving parish- churchbook.
Sever Ramsett settled in Sterling, Vernon, Wisconsin.

No signs of Nikoline on the Sjøfna-list though...

I'm not convinced she emigrated in 1850.
I believe she could have been adopted by an aunt, e.q. Lovise Rasmusdatter born 1832. The other aunts would be quite young in 1849. Her mother who died in childbirth had the following siblings:
1. Rasmus Rasmussen, Chr 22 NOV 1829
2. Lovise Rasmusdatter, Chr 04 NOV 1832
(3. Nicoline Rasmusdatter, Chr 15 OCT 1826)
4. Rangde Rasmusdatter, Chr 09 NOV 1823 (died young?)
5. Rangde Rasmusdatter, Chr 25 MAY 1834 (died 17 Nov 1837)
6. Lise Rasmusdatter, Chr 16 APR 1837
7. Rangdi Rasmusdatter, Chr 16 SEP 1841

Here is a possibility for Nekkoline Olsdatter in census-1865, working as a servant in Stange.

Looks like Nikoline (Nekkoline) stayed in Norway according to the 1865 census. Also likely that an aunt or an uncle took care of her. Nicolines brother Rasmus was living at Soliødegaard in 1865.

It should be uncle Rasmus Rasmussen b. 26 sep 1829 then, who married Eline Olsdatter Vethammer (b. 08 jul 1832) on 24 feb 1854.
They lived at Soliødegaard and had the following children.
1) Lina 1854
2) Marte 1856-1947
3) Ludvig 1861 -> America
4) Randi 1865 -> America
5) Martinus 1869 -> America
6) Dina 1872
7) Engebret 1875

Does the Soliødegaard reference used in the confirmation parish entry indicate she was still living on the Soliødegaard farm, or just a birth reference? If so, were Nicoline's parents Rasmus Rasmussen and Live Nielsdatter were still living on the farm and were acting as her parents?

Nicoline Rasmussdatter's younger brother, Rasmus Rasmussen would have been only 20 at her death and married to Eline Olsdatter Vethammer in 1854 so it is very unlikely any her siblings were solely responsible, but were at an age where they could be very helpful if she was brought up by the grandparents.. My records have the elder Rasmus Rasmussen passing after 1875, and Live Nielsdatter passing in 1865.

The Nekkoline Olsdatter in Stange in census-1865 is the correct one. She works as a servant in the household of her aunt Lise Rasmusdatter born 26 jan 1837, and uncle Mikkel Tjøstelsen Nødsle born 09 April 1831.

Soliødegaard is referenced twice in the conf. record, both in name and in birthplace. When stated in name, it should indicate current residence,

I belive Live Nielsdatter died in 1839.

Nikoline Rasmusdatter
Born: 25 Sep 1826, Hommerstad, Stange, Hedmark
Parents: Rasmus Rasmussen & Live Nilsdatter
Married to Ole Olsen 29 MAY 1854, Stange, Hedmark

Rasmus Rasmussen: Chr 16 Dec 1798 Hommerstad. Parents: Rasmus Simensen & Live Olsdatter. Married 07 Jan 1779.
Live Nielsdatter: Chr 21 Jan 1798 Hestnesseie. Parents: Niels Erichsen (1766-) & Inger Nielsdatter (1764-). Married 21 Oct 1791.
Live & Rasmus married in 1830.

Thank you for the photos, it is such a pleasure to put pictures to the story. I agree, it looks like Nicoline was with her aunt Lise and husband in 1865.
Why do you believe Live Nielsdatter died in 1839. when last daughter 7. Rangdi Rasmusdatter, Chr 16 SEP 1841?

Sorry, my mistake. Both Live and husband Rasmus are alive in census-1865.
