I see that the site Search for emigrants:is now unavailable. I wonder if that is due to Slekt and Data working on the web site.

Tore, I wonder if you have any insight into what Slekt and Data are doing or plan to do with the Norway-Heritage site..

There has not yet been a formal agreement with Slekt og Data, but negotiations have been ongoing for some time. One of my key conditions for transferring ownership is that the site must remain accessible and not be placed behind a paywall. Additionally, there are a few other issues that still need to be resolved.

The reason the search functionality and some other features are no longer working is due to outdated technology and code. As a result, the site has become vulnerable. When I created the website 27 years ago, things were much simpler. Over the years, I have invested a significant amount of time and resources into keeping it operational. While I would love to continue maintaining and further developing the site, I no longer have the capacity to do this on my own for much longer. Even though I have not been active on the forum for some time, I have remained quite busy maintaining the site.

However, the future still remains undecided. I am not entirely convinced that Slekt og Data fully appreciates the value and scope of the site, as well as the effort that has been invested in it.

Thank you for the update Børge. Norway-Heritage is a very unique site and one of the few places one can go to try and find information on those who emigrated from Norway before 1865.
