Very difficult task since we have no idea what happened to Oluf Christians (Christian Olsens) wife and the other children when he and Olava Emilie left Ullensaker and Norway. Do you have any clou?

I don't know where the wife went she just disappeared between 1869 when Anna was born and 1870 when Christian left for America. Two of the boys are unaccounted for two children are still there. Anna Hulda grew up in a foster home on a farm named Randby where she was when she left. Les said to ask you about children living with god parents when parents were not there.
Thank you,
Renee

Anne Hulda Kristiansdatter, Holum was confirmed Oct 5 1884, see #7
in 1875 she was living with Shoemaker Martin Johansen as a foster child being fully provided for by the system of poor relief, see here

Here is Ragna Mathilde from the 1875 census. The census age must be wrong. Ragna

This could be Olaf Chritiansen with a two year age difference.#24
Since it seems the ages are wrong for welfare children, here is a Carl Kristiansen 5 years younger. #29

Good finding of Ragna Les!
Regarding Olaf, his father is listed in the same census and a Carl is not any of the children, - sorry!

Thank you for all of this. Ragna emigrated in 1889 I think she was still with her foster family. She came to America but can not find her emigration record to see where.
The two boys Carl Theodor and Olav Christian Christiansen are the ones who there is no record of anywhere. They were in the 1865 census. The two daughters that stayed there are Amanda (Odd's Gr Grandmother) and Ragna Mathilde.
Also no record any where on The mother after 1869. If she died wouldn't there be a death record?
Maybe she left and went to America and that was why Christian left the children and went to find her? It is a thought.
You are both wonderful for helping like this.
Thanx,
Renee

I am afraid the Ragna Mathilde born 1875 is the daughter of Christian and Julie in the 1875 census, see #91
and chances for a connection between the two Johansens are very unlikely foster parent for Anna Hulda - not Ragna.
Also Anna Hulda - not Ragna who emigrated in 1889?

quote:
The daughter Ragna, born at Flogstadeiet in Ullensaker April 29 1865, see #182
was baptized Ragna Mathilde.

this is more accurate (Posted - 02/04/2008 : 08:19:07).
