Hi Lori,
"Folloug" would be the local Agder/Telemark variant of the more common name "føderåd".
Føderåd: Support received after giving ones estate to another, ie. the retirement agreement, also named as "kår". A sort of pensioner, receiving support from new owners of the farm by contract made on the sale.
Normally it would be their oldest son (daughter if no sons) who are now running the farm, and the older people are receiving "folloug" from the new generation.
Folloug = Føderåd = Kår = Aldersforsørgelse: Support to the elderly in the family by the younger generation. Provision made for a retiring farmer (and/or his wife) on handling over the farm to his or her successor.
Not really a one-to-one translation for this word... 
Basically it meant that you sold the farm under the conditions that you could live there until you died... The new owners supported you with a place to stay, (and supposedly also food.) VERY common in those days... not so much these days...
