This is an old topic, but maybe some info may be useful.
quote:
From what I gather his father is Arnt Peterson Kyllo (born 29 aug 1852) and his mother is Nikkolina Andersdatter - Neilsen - Kortegard - Kyllo.

Marions grandfather Arnt Pedersen, born Aug 29 and baptized Oct 22 1854, see #91
his parents were Peder Olsen, Kyllo and Berit Paalsdatter.
Here is the family in 1865
Peder Olsen and Berit Paalsdatter (Bereth Paulsdatter) married Oct 22 1846, see #72
Peder Olsen was born April 25 1822, see #111
his parents were Ole Pedersen Ydsti and Anne Nielsdatter.
Beret Poulsdatter was born May 11 1816, see #25
her parents were Poul Larsen, Dalsaune and Gærtru Olsdatter.
Marions grandmother Nikkolina Andersdatter was according to the 1865 census daughter of Anders Nilsen and Lava Børrisdatter (Olava Børresdatter)
Olava Børresdatter was first married to Elias Olsen Folstad March 17 1846, Vår Frue Trondheim, see #10
they had the daughter Oline Gunelie, see #51
Elias Olsen died in 1850.
Nikkoline had two sisters
Ingeborg Anna born July 1 1858, see #46
and Anne Kirstine born at Kortegaard May 4 1863, see #28

Arnt and Nikkolina both had spouses in Norway that passed away. Arnt left his first wife and kids behind in Norway when he came to America.

Arnt was married to Marit (Johnsdatter) Jensdatter, Dec 29 1873, see #19
quote:
Nikkoline was married to Hans Kortegard who died abt 1882. I believe she brought her two children Andrew Hansen Kortegard born Dec 29 1879 and Johanna Helga Kortegard born June 17 1882 with her when she came to America to marry Arnt Peterson Kyllo

Andrew Hansen Kortegard was actually baptized Anders Helmer, see #9
he was born out of wedlock and his father is recorded as "Matros" - sailor Amandus Pettersen.
Johanna Helga Kortegard was actually baptized Olea Johanne, see #38
she was also born out of wedlock and her father is recorded as Lars Johannesen. (Nicolina is recorded as 20 years old, but she was 27!)
Nicolinas father gave the information about both births.

Nicolines father Anders Nielsen was born March 2 1822 at Myhren, Bolsøy, see #10
his parents were Niels Andersen and Helle Pedersdatter who were married June 11 1821, see
#3
Niels was a widower 59 years old, in 1801 he was with his first wife at Myhren
Helle and her parents in 1801 the parents Peder Arnesen and Beret Olsdatter were married June 8 1788, see midle of left hand page here
At Olava Børresdatters (Lava Børgesdatter) confirmation July 12 1840, when she was 141/2 year old, her parents are listed as Børge Olsen and Kirsti Olsdatter at the Aune farm.

When Arnt's wife passed away the kids were placed in orphanage. One child was named Jonas Kyllo.

Arnt and Marit also had a son Peder born June 7 1876, see #43

Thank you, Eibache for all your research. Some of the information I had gathered through email contact but you have now provided me with the visual proof plus new information.

I had taken a break from researching this part of the family and was pleasantly surprised to come back to the website and find new posts.

The census record from Bolsoy Municipality is the correct family. Thank you so much. I spent four hours trying to do searches and kept getting frustrated.

Now for additional clarification on what I posted earlier. Marion Swenson (my mother-in-law) was born in Portland Oregon US in 1921. Her mother died a few days after giving birth to Marion. Marions father was so overwhelmed with the loss of his wife and four other small children at home that he allowed the Nurse (name was Pearl) at the hospital to take Marion home with her. Pearl and her partner Levi raised Marion for about 13 years. At this time Pearl died of cancer and the sister of Marions biological father took Levi to court and took Marion away from him.

Marions parents were listed as Andrew E Swenson and Edna B Young. The Young family is not a problem tracing but the Swenson line has been an uphill climb just in the short amount of time I have attempted. My father in law recently passed away and when going through his possessions I found a few stray pages of notes taken by Marion, before she passed away, uncovering part of her fathers history.

From what I gather his father is Arnt Peterson Kyllo (born 29 aug 1852) and his mother is Nikkolina Andersdatter - Neilsen - Kortegard - Kyllo. Arnt and Nikkolina both had spouses in Norway that passed away. Arnt left his first wife and kids behind in Norway when he came to America. When Arnt's wife passed away the kids were placed in orphanage. One child was named Jonas Kyllo. Nikkolina was married to Hans Kortegard who died abt 1882. I believe she brought her two children (Andrew Hansen Koretegard born 1879 & Johanna Helga Koretegard born 1882) with her when she came to America to marry Arnt.

Arnt's father was named Peter Kyllo.
Peter Kyllo had four sons; Arnt, Peter, Ole, Sivert.
Arnt and Peter married sisters. Not sure if this was Arnt's first wife or his second.

I have notes where Andrew Swenson was formally known as Peter Kyllo.
And another note shows "Andrew E (swenson) Kyllo".

Andrew was born 1886 in Goodhue County, Minnesota US, and his siblings were born in North Dakota US and then everyone settled in Multnomah County, Oregon US. Everyone connected to Andrew apparently kept the Kyllo name but he switched to Swenson.
