Looking for origins of Ole Wollum & wife Lena. Ole's tombstone says he was born 8 Dec 1859 (family says in Sør Trøndelag). Emigrated about 1880 (according to 1900 & 1910 census Rock Creek, Dunn Co. WI) There is an Ole Vollum listed as sawmill worker on 1880 census Menomonie, Dunn Co WI. Ole died 11 Sep 1919. Ole & wife Lena are buried Rock Creek Cem, Dunn Co. WI.
In 1893 in Dunn Co WI, Ole married Lena Borresdatter Thoreson (1865-1910). Lena's parents Bore Thoresen (1829-1906) & Magrete (1841-1912) came from Oppland about 1868 with 3 or 4 children. Lived in Peru twp Dunn Co WI and buried in Peru cemetery.
Not all correspond, but worth a try: Oline (Lena) Børresdatter b. on farm Velumstad in Romedal parish, Hedmark county Sept. 27. 1865. Parents; Børe Olsen and Marthe Andersdatter, #142
Olines siblings in 1865; Ole, Eline, Martinus and Annne.
A much better candidate. Livø Børresdatter born Mai 1. 1865 on farm Horten in Braatens school district in Skjåk parish, Oppland county. Parents; Børre Thoresen and Margrete Rasmusdatter, see 2. bap. from bottom #31
She had a sister Rønnaug age 5 in 1865. Børre Thoresen age 37 in 1865 Margrete Rasmusdatter age 25 in 1865.
The reason Børre Thoresen and his family em. from Slette after he sold Horten was because I believe it was Børres brother Thore that owned Slette in 1865, 3 children, 4 servants and Rønnaug age 71, former owner and most liklely Thore and Børres mother, link
Slette in Braataadal/Bråtådal, a relatively large farm, photo taken 1941
Thanks to Jane and Kåre for the quick replies. I never would have thought that Lena was born Livø, but all the information fits. The family search tree is a great help.
How can I find Børre's parents on the 1801 census - Tore Toresen Slette Vigstad b. 1790 and Rønnaug Iversdtr. Lund b. 1794 ?
Still need to find Ole Wollum. Which parish in Sør Trøndelag is the Vollum farm located? Appreciate all the helpful information. Kay
eibache found the following Vollum farms listed in the 1865 census for Sør-Trøndelag [this got posted in the other Wollum thread]:
Støren 2 Melhus 1 Børsen 3 Strinden 2
Ole would be about seven. He could be at one of the Vollum farms; on the other hand he could have lived at a Vollum farm after that census. You have his exact day-month-year of birth, which will identify him.
History of Dunn County Wisconsin said he was born near Trondheim.
You are welcome. Livø is a very unusual name, 54 persons with that name in 1865..
