Hi Kim Could this be your grandfather Click Here Peder Frithjof Pedersen (using his patronym)? If it is then in the Ellis Island records it shows Frithjof Pedersen is going to his brother in Madison Wisconsin. Carla |

Hi Kim Names could be a little eratic, it could depend on who was writing down the information and how it was asked but I am pretty sure that this Peter isn't yours since I did find one in the 1900 census that matched and the father and mother's names didn't match yours. Any ideas where in Canada he went? Carla |

On his birth cert it does say that his name is Peter Olsen born in Oslo in dec 1886 ,baptize in feb 1887died in 1963. A cousin of mine told me that he arrive from a port in Vancouver. Do not know if it's Vancouver Vanada or Vancouver in the U.S.A . He married my Grandmother Albina Labelle in the early 1920 she was born in 1904 died in 1981 in Hull Quebec Canada I presume , it is very hard to get any informations from their children. While on the ship to the Americas he met and became friend with two men and all i have is their first name one of them was a man called Martin and the other man's name was Arthur. Got info that one of my sister ,found is birth cert with the original norwegian copy and a copy translated in english waiting for her to fax them to me.

Hi Kim I don't know if you have found it but there is one database with Peter and Albina Labelle Click Here Peter's mother is listed as Holga Peterson. It also provides a marriage date. Your best bet, when you get the copy of the birth certificate is to get the microfilms of the church records and look at the original source. You could pick up some more info there. I found one possibility in the 1900 census Click Here Ole Peter Olsen with a son Peter Alexander Olsen. Norwegian names can get very confusing. Be sure and read the articles in the links Hopkins provided and also this page Click Here has lots of good articles.
You should try and get a copy of the civil registration of the marriage Click Here Hopefully that would provide more information. Good Luck Carla |

Hi , The first link you gave me is a good one. That's on the Labelle side of the family which I do not know a thing about. But it will help me a lot. I always forget that I have to look up the Quebec goverment , I spend hours searching the internet and never find anything .You are a great help. Kim
