Ole Hansen Kleppen was the oldest brother of my g-g-grandfather.
A web site reference to him can be viewed at this address:
http://onshus.no/html/wc04/wc04_373.htm

FamilySearch.org has an IGI record for Ole which
gives his birth date as 16 Aug 1822. What I am missing
is his marriage date to Magnhild Jonsdatter Bjørge.
Her father's name was Jon Steinarsen Bjørge or Jon Steenersen (Biørge Søndre).
Farm Bjørge suggests Magnhild is from Ringebu municipality.
Can somebody lookup this marriage?

The website you listed indicates that Ole and Magnhild's children were born in Sør Fron. The IGI has this marriage record
OLE HANSEN
Male
Marriages:
Spouse: MAGNILD JOHNSDR
Marriage: 08 JUN 1854 Sor Fron, Oppland, Norway
Their daughter Lisbet is listed as being born in 1850 but the IGI has her born Nov. 22 1855.

Thanks, Carla. Those IGI dates make more sense, and in fact that
birth date for Lisbet is consistent with her reported age of 24 in
the USA 1880 census. I have no idea where onshus.no got the
1850 date.

Bruce and I are working together on our family tree.

Your web site is fantastic. I have been trying to find emigration data about our ancestors, but have hit the proverbial brick wall. Can you help us obtain the following emigration information about our relatives.

They all seem to be from Sør Fron, Oppland.

Ole Hansen Kleppen, born 16 Aug. 1822, has been cited as emigrating to the US in 1863, with his wife Magnhild Jonsdtr Bjorge born 10 July 1820, Lille-Bø, and they had three children. Lisbeth born 1856, Marie born 25 May 1858, and Hanna born 28 Oct. 1859. We would like to find out when they left Norway, and what ship they emigrated on.

In additon to Ole, he had three brothers who had emigrated before him.

Iver Hansen born 8 Oct. 1826, and Østen Hansen born 9 Nov. 1834, emigrated together 13 February 1856. We would like to know their departure date and what ship also.

Peder Hansen, born 11 Jan. 1831 was the first brother to emigrate. I have an emigration date of 19 Jan. 1855. Peder may have used the farm name Kleppen. Again, we would like to know the date and ship he was, on if possible.

Iver, Østen, and Peder were not married when they emigrated. But one of the brothers made a return trip to Norway to visit. We do not know what year that was.

All of the brothers, originally settled near La Crosse, WI.

When emigration papers were issued, how many days or months were allowed to board the ship?

The microfilm church records including birth, marriage, moving in/out records are available for rent from a local Family History Center:

From the Index of Departures on this site, in these years the great majority of ships went to Quebec and unfortuately, there are no Canadian records for this period. The church records are your best resource for information (and the most accurate).

Thank you Jo Anne,

I know I never would have been able to find the records you cited.

Thank you "kaare n" for the additional details about Ole and Magnhild.

My next question is directed to Jo Anne Sadler but replies from anyone
will be welcome. I followed your link to the list of microfilms containing
the Sør-Fron records but I did not see any films that might contain
"Utflytning" records. I see "Innflyttede" films but that is the opposite of
what Lester and I are looking for. Did I miss something?

Those lines appear to list both types of records (usually on the same folio pages - one type to the left area and the other to the right)

From the LDS library catalog online for Sør-Fron -
Innflyttede og b.47 1849-1863 Utflyttede FHL INTL Film 0307270
