Maren Erikdsdatter was my great great grandmother born in Norway about 1838. She married Jacon Olson Draland in Scandinavia, Wi in June 1856. Her parents are listed in the church record as Erik Olson and Anne Larsdatter.

I am looking for information, perhaps from a passenger list, that tells me where in Norway they were from. It is likely that Maren, her parents, and possibly other siblings came to Wisconsin together sometime before 1856.

If you have access to the church record of their marriage - have you also checked those church records for any mention or notation of the parish of baptism and/or confirmation of Maren Eriksdtr, Erik Olson and/or Anne Larsdtr Olson? Have you searched for any obituaries or local histories that might have mentioned these Norway born residents and possibly mentioned their origins in more detail?
I searched most US census indexes and was unable to locate any household headed by a Jacon Draland or similar name. What county is Scandianavia Wisconsin located in? What other spellings have you found used for the Draland family in US censuses and records?

There is someone who has posted a family tree online which includes Dralands. The file doesn't appear to contain any earlier information than you currently have - but perhaps you and that researcher can join forces.

Thanis for the info, Scandinavia is in Waupaca county but Maren was born and baptized in Norway and that's what I'm trying to find, where she and her parents were from.

I realize that is what you hope to find - but you'll really need to scour and scour again all US resources you can find for any and all clues no matter how tiny. I was hoping some link to the Draland family or their area of origin within Norway might lead to a clue for you.
Maren E. left long before the invaluable 1865 Norwegian census, and she left at least 10-12 years before records of persons emigrating from the various ports of Norway were started or kept consistently. Heading to Wisconsin they might have arrived in America through a Canadian port - the Canadians don't have any surviving passenger lists for arrivals before the mid 1860's. You don't even know what year she was born or if she came to America with her family members.
I'm just trying to give you ideas of US resources to scour for clues.

Here is who I believe to be the family of Jacob and Maren (Mary) in the 1860 census. I checked the 1825-1849 Norwegian Immigrants to USA books and I did not come across a Maren or Mary Eriksdatter that could be this person.

Could you tell us where they were living in the 1880 and 1900 time period. If we could see the 1900 census records then we might be able to see when Maren supposedly immigrated. Both Maren and Jacob may have been dead by that time but if they were still living it would certainly help us. JEAN

Hi Jean, I have essentially all the info you note for Jacob and Maren from my family records and working with Vesterheim here in Madison, WI. My main search now is for info about her parents, Erik Olson and Anne Larsdatter. I have their names from the church record of Jakob and Maren's wedding. In writings of Thor Helgeson there is mention of them being at a baptism in either Iola or Scandinavia, WI prior to 1855. Maren was likely a child or young teenager when she came to America, probably between 1845 and 1855. Bill

Jean, Jacob was dead but Maren was alive and living with her daughter Amilia. I already have the 1900 census showing her in Helvsia township, Wapaca Co. I have yet to find where either one of them is buried. Jacob died Sep, 29, 1893, Maren unknown but after 1900. Bill

Bill, hello again. I was hoping to see what it said for Maren in the 1900 census but I do not find her or Amilia in the 1900 census for Helvetia Township, Waupaca County, Wiscosin. I would like to see if it gives an immigration year for Maren.

What last names are both Amilia and Maren using in the 1900 census?

JEAN,
I believe Amila was married to a Mork. Maren, sometimes listed as Mary, probably used Olson. I've seen the census and don't think it says when she came to the US.
