Hi!
In the search of my mother`s grandmother, Agnethe Andersen Ringnes (later named Agnes Johnson, married to Emil Johnson) I have found their children (my mother`s aunts): Helen C. Johnson, b 1911 in Illinois and Esther Johnson, b 1914 in Illiois. In 1930 they lived with their parents (Agnes Johnson and Emil Johsnon) in Marinette, Wisconsin. They worked in the hospital.
I wonder how I can search further to find out more about Helen and Esther?

Hi Per,

Your aunt had at least 3 children, Helen & Esther born in Illinois and Marion b.in Wisconsin. Did you find Helen & Esther in the 1930 census? It doesn't appear that they are in the household with their parents that year, only Marion is:

Event Place: Grover, Marinette, Wisconsin
Enumeration District Number: 0008
Family Number: 97
Sheet Number and Letter: 4B
Line Number: 96
NARA Publication: T626, roll 2583
Film Number: 2342317
Digital Folder Number: 4547551
Image Number: 00525
Household Gender Age
Spouse Emil Johnson M 49
Agnes Johnson F 48
Child Marion Johnson F 10

Did the older 2 girls, move away, get married (this means a last name change probably), die or something else by 1930?

Hi!
Thanks :-) I found Helen and Esther in 1930, they worked at the hospital in Marinette, Wisconsin, as nurses. Maybe they had moved and only Marion stayed with her parents.
I would like to know more about these three children. They would be my mother`s aunts! Have you got any idea where I could do some research?
Greetings, Per Jakob

Hi,

Until recently searching in the US Social Security Death Index with only a first name and an exact birth date was an easy and productive strategy. But some entity, being, or power forced the removal of the SSDI search engine (which was the best for this type of search!) at www.rootsweb.com.
So now we now we have to go a long way round to get the same information. Fie on you entity, being or power!

Here is an Esther with your Esther's exact birth date 6 May 1913 whose SSN was issued in Wisconsin. This may be the married named of your Esther Victoria Johnson, at least it's a point to start searching for her potential descendants.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V9ZD-VZQ

(Less high on this Esther, found an obit for one of her children and her maiden name was carried in it as Kuehl, not Johnson. Square one)

Folks may want to try Steve Morse's one-step search of SSDI.
http://stevemorse.org/ssdi/ssdi.html

This may be your Agnes recorded in one of the 2 Wisconsin death index available at www.familysearch.org:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V89L-GW7

Birthyear is approximately correct and "Mari," may be short for Marinette. Exact death date may help locate an obit to rule her in or out and to find locations and possible married names of children.

Hi,

Here is the most comprehensive listing of Marinette Wisconsin newspapers:

http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/search/titles/results/?state=Wisconsin&county=Marinette&city=&year1=1690&year2=2012&terms=&frequency=&language=šnicity=&labor=&material_type=&lccn=&rows=20

At this site you may click to find a library which might carry the microfilm or hard copy of the paper.

Other places to look for information would be the Marinette county, Wisconsin page at www.usgenweb.com
www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wimarine/" target="_blank">http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wimarine/

The Marinette county courthouse would contain records on residents of the county, which you could purchase
www.marinettecounty.com/" target="_blank">http://www.marinettecounty.com/

Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness is off for a while but a few folks are still volunteering through facebook at :
