Looking for information on Anders (Andrew) Severson born abt. 1817 in Norway. Lived in Scandinavia, Waupaca, Wi. Don't know where he lived after 1860 census in Wisconsin. May have moved to Minnesota. Had several children, one of which was Ole Andrew Severson.

Post correction: Lived in Mt. Morris, Waushara County in 1860

Waupaca did not become a county in Wisconsin until 1851, so the earliest census for it is 1860. There were 32 people in Waupaca born in 1817 +/- 2 in the 1860 US Census. None of them named Seversen or Severson or even close. The nearest person to your description in 1860 is the following. Waushura is a county next to Waupaca. This may be the same family shown above from the 1850 US Census from Dane County.

Correction for Andrew Severson. In Mt. Morris, Waushara County, WI in 1860 census. Wife Martha.

Children:
Ole
Sever
Caroline
Elling
John
Christiana

Last person in census: Inger Jen Stoler

In 1850 census, Dane County Sever was just born. I think Ole(b: 1846 in Norway) was an older brother to Sever but Ole is not listed in 1850 census

Naeseth Norwegian Immigrants Volume II identifies 109 Norwegians on Ĝrnen arriving in New York on 1 Aug 1844, 60 days from Bergen.

Anders Sjurson is in the same Volume as arriving on the Juno in New York on 18 June 1846, 52 days out from Bergen. In the text on Anders it says, he and his family moved from Mt. Morris, Waushara Co, Wisc. in 1863 to Goodhue county, Minnesota. He died 17 Sept 1894 and both he and his wife are buried at Lands Lutheran in Goodhue county. They had 11 children. One of the sources is George Flom History of Norwegian Immigration to America, 1909. Flom's history is, I think, in Googlebooks and you might also look in www,dalbydata.com

I don't see the son Ole Andrew Severson in the post from jwiborg. The post that gives the family history on Mar 6 at 18:22:49..Ole was born in Norway June 1846 to Anders
Severson and Margaret. He appears to be the older brother of Elling. Maybe I am not understanding the difference in names.

Okay, who is this Ole Severson? Where / when was he born?

Trouble is, if he was actually born in 1846 to Marith Ellingsdtr in America, it would be physically impossible for him to be the son of Anders Sjurson, who was on the ocean for 52 days before landing at New York on 18 June 1846.

Likewise, if this Ole was born in June 1846 in Norway to Anders Sjurson, it means his mother is someone other than Marith Ellingsdtr since she came US in 1844.

What does the poster know about Ole Andrew Severson?

I just looked through about 200 or so Ole Severson from the 1900 US Federal census at familysearch.org and this one is the only one listed as born June 1846. However, another possible interpretation of the last name is Swenson. Take a look at the actual schedule not just the index to it line 39:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11594-186719-24?cc=1325221

Is this the Ole Andrew Severson you are looking for? It says he came in 1854 from Norway.
