Hello -- this relates to my post earlier today. I would like help reading a "Best Man's Statement" relating to marriage of my grandparents. The entry is for the Nykirken church in Bergen. I found it at image #400 of tthe Best Man's Statements for 1904-1907. Date is 17 Sep 1907. Very difficult handwriting!

The baptismal record for Hans Jakob Olaisen is #14.
His father was Olai Mekkelsen, Titland.
He was born out of wedlock Oct 20 1867 and his mother was Christi Christiansdatter, Nedre Tvedt.

Einar, your expertise in this field is remarkable, and much appreciated. My next forum topic will be along the lines of: My grandmother Andrine K. Johnsdatter seems to disappear from the records between her confirmation at Lygre on 10 March 1886, and her marriage at the Bergens Nykirken, Sep 1907. No record from age 15 to age 36? Seems like she should be there somewhere...

Just a small correction, the date for Andrina Kristinas confirmation is Oct 3 1886, see #9.
She was then living at Møksvold.

Andrine Kristines parents and siblings in 1891.

No hit for Andrine Kristine (Andrina Kristina).

Thanks for your post of 29/06. I had not known that some of the 1891 census is available on Digitalarkivet.

Tip: When you are looking at a Digitalarkivet database for a particular area like that link to the 1891 census for Lygra sokn i Lindås/Bergen -- look at the blue banner nearest the top of the webpage. See the words "Same område" (meaning same area). Click on that and the Digitalarkivet will present a LIST of all the databases currently available for that area. Any of the online Norwegian dictionaries will help you figure out which might be of interest to you.
