Greetings. I am working with the very knowledgeable Paul Engelstad, with support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, to write a complete history of the "Oleana" colony founded by Ole Bull in Pennsylvania, not far from where I live, in 1852. I am seeking any information about the experiences of passengers aboard the brig "Incognito," which sailed from Norway to New York in 1852. Many passengers on the Incognito came to the Oleana colony. The brig set out on the Atlantic for the return trip and was never seen or heard from again.

This sounds interesting. Ole Bull is my 6C6R. I'm related through Jens Andersen Bull (Bishop of Meldalen), my 12th-great-grandfather. Did you know there is a statue of Ole in a Minneapolis, MN, park? I'd like to hear more about this.

My g.g.g.grandfather Mathias Carlson and family were on the Incognito and a part of the Ole Bull Colony at Oleana. I have information on this family that I am willing to share.

my name is Giulia Mangione and I am an Italian documentary photographer currently working at a photo project about Oleana. I am travelling to the US this summer to meet and photograph the descendants of the emigrants who lived in Oleana or descendants of people who were on the Incognito.
