My maternal grandmother had two female cousins who emigrated from Norway via New York in May, 1902, to Sioux City, Iowa. They were called Ambjørg (in Norway), and Emma in US. Her last name was Einang, and she was born in 1875. In many years she worked for a guy called Mr Call in Sioux City. Is it possible to find this man's address in the city? (Emma's sister was Marit/Mary).
Best regards,
Anne in Oslo.

There are several Calls in Sioux City Iowa in the 1900 US Census.

Asa F Call lived at 1115 Douglas Street.

In 1910 a Geo C Call lived at 1529 Summit Avenue.

Hi, since you know Ambjørg was called Emma in the USA, I get the impression you may know more about her than what you've posted. Can you tell more? A married name, years spent in Sioux City, occupation, her parents' names, full date of birth, etc.

An Emma Einang died in Oslo in 1952; no Emma Einang with that name spelled that way is turning up in Sioux City, Iowa, USA.

Does the incoming passenger manifest tell to whom she is traveling?

A biography of George C Call here:

Speculative: Asa Frank Call on this tree is a brother to George Casper Call, was a lawyer, had trust/bank business. Needs more checking. Tree:

Google search turns up a J. H. Call connected to Asa F. Call in a legal case. Here is a Joseph Harry Call listed by Find a Grave as brother to Asa Frank Call and George Casper Call:

An earlier thread re this Einang family with references to Sioux City:

Do you know what kind of work Ambjørg/ Emma did? Do you know if she married?

Seems it will be necessary to find Emma in the U.S. to check out what she does for an occupation, as a clue to which Mr. Call is her employer.

In 1905 Emma Ronning lived at 1919 Virginia in Sioux City, Iowa.

Hello again and thank you for the answers you have found to me. The Emma you mention, is the correct one. I have more concrete information to you now as you have asked:
Ambjørg (her Norwegian name) Ivarsdaughter was born on December 31 in 1871, and she was baptized on March 24 in 1872. Her parents were Ivar Anderson Einangseie and Barbro Eriksdaughter. Her confirmation took place on June 5 in 1887. She left Norway via Oslo/Christinia on April 18, 1802.
She was NEVER married, and her work was, among most practical things, doing work in the kitchen! She did this for several years, so she must all her adult life have been a servant.
Best regards,
Anne in Oslo.

As far as I know and have learned from my present family, none of the two now mentioned girls emigrated. Ambjørg/Emma and Marit left at the same time - and that was it, as far as the family-members say.
