Hi,
I am attempting to find out what happened to Fredrik Bertinius Johansen after he emigrated from Rødøy, Nordland in 1904 (Trondheims politikammer: Registre til emigrantprotokollene p. 177: https://urn.digitalarkivet.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-em20110307640532.jpg)

Of course, he may not have gone to America, but since he had three uncles and an aunt in Chicago (they emigrated in the 1880s) I thought it likely. He might have gone for work and returned to Norway as well, but I have so far not located him in Norway after 1904.

Might be relevant that his brothers in Norway changed their surname to Senning later in life.

Link to his baptism record:

Links to him and his family on census records in Norway:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01053158000350
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01037519000268

Thannks for all help!

The U.S., World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 Transcription lists a wife named Magda Johnson. I have not found any evidence of a marriage and the original card does not list her as wife but rather as the Nearest Relative. Also her address is the same as his work place and not the same as his home address. Perhaps he was not married at the time of the WWI registration.

This is incredibly helpful :D

Thanks to what you have found above, I think I have found his naturalization:
Frederik Bertinus Johnson
Date of Birth: Sep 11 1885
Date and port of arrival in US: June 10. 1904
Date of Naturalization: Jan 28. 1915
https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/3949483:61196?ssrc=pt&tid=192357619&pid=112603798965

And marriage:
Name Fred B. Johnson
Age 25
Gender Male
Birth Year abt 1886
Marital Status Single
Marriage Type Marriage
Marriage Date 1 Apr 1911
Marriage Place Chicago, Cook, Illinois
Spouse Name Magda Nelson
Spouse Age 24
https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/865514:2556?ssrc=pt&tid=192357619&pid=112603798965

I think it is the correct marriage given this passport application as Magda lists her husbands naturalization date.
https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/135925:1174?ssrc=pt&tid=192357619&pid=112603799043

Think I also have him on a draft record in 1942 in Chicago.
https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/9823641:1002?ssrc=pt&tid=192357619&pid=112603798965

On this draft record he lists a Freda Johnson as person who will know where he is. Is this a wife? Have he and Magda in that case split? Or is Magda dead?

But I wonder where the family is on the 1930 and 1940 census? And when did Fredrik Bertinus die?

Good searching. I do think that you have found the correct man and his 1920 Census Record as well as his marriage. Some further gaps to fill in of course but that is usually true.
