Emigrants boarding the S/S Calypso at Gothenburg
Picture of the month - June 2005

The picture of the month this time is from an old postcard used in 1906. It shows emigrants boarding the S/S Calypso of the Wilson Line. The Calypso brought the emigrants from Gothenburg to Hull in England. From Hull the emigrants went by train to Liverpool where they would board the transatlantic steamer. There is a closer description of the ship at the S/S Calypso page.
