Franconia (1) Cunard Line steamship built 1910 at Wallsend-on-Tyne, England by Swan, Hunter Wigham Richardson. In 1916 the Franconia was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-47 off Malta while trooping, 12 lives were lost. This image is from an old photo postcard.
