The brig Alert sailed with emigrants from Kragerø to new York for a number of years. First recorded sailing was in 1848 when she was mastered by capt. Krogh. She arrived to New York on July 8th. The passenger list is archived by NARA, and is filmed; Roll no. 73 list no. 717. In 1850 she arrived at New York on June 29th. She was sailing in ballast, carrying 146 steerage passengers. The voyage from Kragerø had taken 42 days. Master was capt. Krogh. In 1851 she was mastered by capt. Eilert Olsen from Kragerø with 155 passengers and arrived at New York on July 15th.
