1861 | Captain A. H. Thorsen from Drammen June 4 to Quebec July 23 | The information listed above is not the complete record of the ship. The information was collected from a multitude of sources, and new information will be added as it emerges |
|
In 1861 the bark Bayard departed from Drammen on June 4th, and arrived at the quarantine station at Grosse Île on July 23rd. She proceeded to Quebec the same day. The ship sailed in ballast and was carrying 11 cabin and 257 steerage passengers, there were 5 deaths on the voyage. The Bayard was mastered by Captain A.H. Thorsen and had a crew of 12. Because the National Archives of Canada [NAC] did not start the archiving of passenger lists before 1865, and the Norwegian emigration records did not start before 1867, there is no surviving passenger list for this voyage in any of those archives. Timeline to records.
