In 1870 the
bark Colonist departed Drammen May 1, and arrived at Quebec June 20. She was sailing in ballast, and was carrying 307
steerage passengers. Total number of sperficial feet set apart for passengers other than cabins passengers was 3262 (square feet). There was one death during the crossing of the ocean. It was an infant that died of diarrhoea. There were two births. On May 6th Peder G. Løhan[?] age 28, and Sigri Thorstensdatter (29) had the son Collonel, and on June 6th Peder A. Mjör (34) and Karen[?] Ellingsdatter (24) had a daughter which they gave the name Atlanta. The colonist had a tonnage of 578 tons. She was mastered by Capt. Thorvald Baarsrud, with a crew of 14.
