The bark (also mentioned as ship rigged) Frivold was built at Grimstad, Norway by A. Omundsen in 1857. She was owned by A. O. Frivold in Grimstad 1865 - 1888. Burden was 379 gross tons, dimensions: 105 feet of length, 27,5 feet beam and 16 feet depth. In 1868 the Frivold departed from Bergen Apr. 2, and arrived to Quebec with 329 passengers. There were 3 deaths on the voyage. She was mastered by capt. Johannesen. The Frivold stranded in 1898 on passage from Boston to Arendal with a load of coal.
