The Georgic (2) was the last ship built for the White Star Line, and was the sister of the Britannic (3) which was launched in 1929, but the Georgic had more elegant lines. The forward funnel was a dummy and contained a radio room. In 1940 she was converted to a troopship and was used to evacuate British troops from Andesfjord and Narvik after the battle of Narvik (Norway). In 1941 the ship was badly damaged when she was bombed and burned out in the Suez Canal. The ship was repaired ans rebuilt at Belfast 1943-44 and the dummy funnel and backward mast were removed. The ship was refitted in 1948 for Australien emigrant service. Broken up 1956.
