The Immanuel was built in 1868 at Porsgrunds S. B. Selskab in Porsgrunn. She had a tonnage 439 gross tons, 424 tons net. Owners name was Flørnes. In 1869 the bark Immanuel departed from Christiania May 28th and arrived at Quebec Aug. 6th. She was sailing in ballast, and was carrying 266 steerage passengers and 4 cabin passengers. One man of 65, died of senile debility and sea sickness on the voyage. The Immanuel was mastered by Capt. Landgeen and had a crew of 13. Her final voyage ended when she burned in the Atlantic 1889.
