In 1869 the bark Moss departed from Christiania Apr. 25th, and arrived at Quebec June 19th. She was sailing in ballast, and was carrying 300 steerage passengers. There was an outbreak measles, and five were sick when the ship arrived at the quarantine station on Grosse Īle. one of the passengers had died on the voyage, and another three died after the arrival to Grosse Īle. On June 8th, the infant Anne Olsdatter died, on April 28th, Tolef Nilsen age 1 died, on June 28th Marit Olsen age 22 died and on June 23rd, Bergith Hansen age 2½ died. There was one birth on the voyage, a boy was born on June 20th, and was named Martin Atlantus Olsen, sadly he died on July 3rd at Grosse Īle. Sick; Magrete Silius 49, Erik Joseas Silius 10, Carl Christophersen 10 and Karen Arnesen 22. The Moss was mastered by Capt. Gundersen, and had a crew of 14.
