Nemesis - P&O steamship
Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O) steamship built 1857 by Tod & McGregor at Glasgow. Sold to Peter Denny in 1869. Chartered to the Cunard Line in 1869. Charter to the Inman Line in 1871. Chartered to North German Lloyd of Bremen in 1872. Charter to the Colonial Line in 1877. In 1879 she was renamed Perussia, and in 1880 reverted to her previous name . She went to Adamson & Rowlandson in 1881 and was chartered to the Thames & Mersey Line . In 1882 she was chartered to the Royal Netherlands Steamship Co. She was scrapped in 1891. The image is from an old photograph and shows her after having been damaged by a cyclone at Calcutta.
