Burden: 12,500 tons gross, 11,395 under deck and 7,800 net. Promenade deck 193 feet long. She was constructed in steel, had 3 steel decks, Upper Deck sheathed in wood, steel awning deck sheathed in wood, one funnel and two masts. There was 10 cemented bulkheads. The ship was fitted with electric light, submarine signalling device and wireless. There was accommodation for 286 first class passengers, 292 second class and 1,800 steerage passengers. Propulsion: triple expansion engine with 6 cylinders of 28 13/16, 47 13/16 and 78 inches diameter respectively; stroke 57 inches; operating at 180 p.s.i. delivering 1,265 nominal horsepower giving her a speed of 15 knots. There was 3 double ended and 3 single ended boilers, 36 corrugated furnaces, grate surface 639 sq. ft, heating surface 23,199 sq. ft. The engine was built by the same company as the hull. She had a cellular double bottom, aft 151 feet long, under engine and boilers 107 feet, forward 191 feet, 1,847 tons, Deep Tank forward 56 feet, 1,620 tons; Forward Peak Tank 147 tons; Aft Peak Tank 75 tons.
