The
Otto (1) was a 983 gross ton ship, built 1867 by C&W Earle in
Hull. Launched June 17th 1867. Her dimensions were; length 224,6 feet x beam 29,9 feet and holds 15,5 feet deep. The Bridge Deck was 194 tons, she had one funnel, two masts, iron construction and rigged as an iron single screw steam Brig. There was 1 iron deck, 2 tiers of beams and 4 bulkheads. She had a
compound engine with 2 inverted cylinders of 27 & 48 in. diameter respectively, stroke 26 inches, 98 horsepower. New boilers & engine compounded in 1876, the engine was built by Amos & Smith in Hull. She had a tonnage of 1 052 tons gross, 787 under deck and 821 net. Passenger accommodation for 8-1st class and 425-
steerage. On August 7th 1892 she was sunk off Lappegrund Lightship, Copenhagen, in collision with the Leith, Hull & Hamburg Steam Packet Co vessel
Thorsa, while on passage from Danzig to
Grimsby and Hull with wood and general cargo.
