In 1866 the Tamworth was carrying 344 passengers from Skien to Quebec. The passengers were from Hvitseid, Siljord, Moland and Rauland in Telemark, and some from Gjerpen, Solum and Skien. 90 of the passengers were children. The passenger list shows only 317 passengers, 302 steerage and 15 cabin. At the arrival to the quarantine station at Gross Īle 3 passengers were sick with cold and debility. According to the Grosse Īle report one child died during the crossing, an infant, born on board. The Norwegian newspaper "Morgenbladet" reported that there had been two deaths on the voyage, both infants. Most of the emigrants were very poor, and several did not have more means than what was necessary for the journey. How ever there were a few wealth people among them too, bringing as much as 1000 Speciedaler or more to get a new start in America. The passenger list for this voyage is kept at the National Archives of Canada [NAC]. The list gives the names of 276 passengers, a page containing the names of the last 41 passengers seams to be missing.
