Back to Reinert's father Reier Olson. Could he be the Rier Olson owning the upper right corner of square #14 in this 1896 map of Illyria Township in Fayette County, Iowa?
As a test, I looked at the 1900 census, where Reinert Reiersen figures as Ru*T Ricersen, and selected the family names of the ten families that surround them most closely in the census; Frey, Buchlman, Tchontz, Herboldt, Schmidt, Larson, Coventry, Thompson, Ernst and Klingman, and they are all there in the map, either in square 14 or in the neighbouring squares 13, 24 and 25, in nearly all the cases also with first names matching the head of family from the census. |

Hey guys. I just talked to Joan D. Smith of Salem, OR (granddaughter of Hanna Kristine)!
She was very delightful and was a little leary of our first email to her asking her for help.
Thanks again! |
