I´ll keep all options open, I think these records need more investigation.
I´m a bit confused but not surprised.

At least your Aad/Odd Torstensen seems to be no problem Renee, he was son of Torsten Bergesen and Brita Odsdr. Ur, the main goal for this topic.

Perhaps a look up in these books for Hjelmeland could came up with some answers?

Renes, I am interested in anything you know about the crossing to America in 1854. My great great grandfather emigrated that same year from Savanger to Chicago. His wife and youngest daughter died during the voyage.
