Don't think there is a connection because John would have been born around 1850, but neighbors who are Johnsons get my attention.

Hi Nancy - nice to see you again. This family was researched; see page 7. You had hypothesized this was the George who attended Betsy's funeral.

Jane, you are so right! I knew the name Wenos sounded familiar, but had forgotten about pursuing this angle before.

I contacted a distant LDS relative last night hoping she might have traced Betsy's line into Norway, but she has not. Ordering death certificates for more of the children might be the next order of business.

Thank you for taking an interest.

Another thought going through my mind is that Betsy could be a cousin to Johan Bendik Johnson. (George L would have been attending the funeral of his father's cousin.) I will need to try to map the entire family to see if this could be. A similar situation happened on the Swedish side of my family.

I think I found her in Census-1900. Look at this one in Wadena, Minnesota.

Born MARCH 1850, immigrated 1870.
Not everything fits dough... could Oliver be Clarence ? And birthplace for the sons are listed as MN, and father born in Norway.
But widowed, 8 children, 7 living...

Household
Bertha Anderson Head F 50 Norway
Oliver Anderson Son M 15 Minnesota. (Born Jul 1885)
Alexander Anderson Son M 13 Minnesota. (Born May 1887)

The d.o.b. is questionable, since it's calculated from her obit.
If it's Betsy above in Wadena, her d.o.b. could be 01 Mar 1850?

Betsy would probably be Brithe in Norway. Bergen is in Hordaland.
Possibilities for Betsy Johnson in Hordaland:

Here is an interesting emigration on 11 May 1868. Ship Frigate Bird leaving BERGEN, headed for Quebec:

Census-1865

Confirmation #34, 02 Apr 1865. Birthe is 15¼, ie born beginning of 1850...

When and where is this Brithe Johnsdatter born? Voss, Hordaland or Vik, Sogn & Fjordane?

The parents are originally from Voss, but has at some point (between 1848 - 1863) relocated to Vik in Sogn.

That Brita (with John Brynjelson and Gertrude) was born in Vik but in March 184922 Nov 1849 pg 5 of this topic. She was covered to that extent earlier in the topic.

Her older brother Bryngel left about a year before the rest of the family.

It would be nice to find them all in US.
