There are two freely available transcriptions of the passenger list of Therese / Theresa of the 1870 passage. One is at NorwayHeritage:
The NorwayHeritage transcription of the 1870 Theresa list, #308:
http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_list.asp?jo=1895

Then there is this one on the Therese in 1870 In the Bergen to Quebec ships lists at the Digitalarivet. Here is Britha's listing:

13821Bergen 1870 April 20 Britha Johannesdatter Vigøren f 20 Vik Therese

She is one of ten people from Vik on the ship. I assume these lists are created from the landings list in Quebec.

[13737 Bergen 1870 April 20 Anna Evindsdatter Lilleøren f 24 Vik
Therese
13738 Bergen 1870 April 20 Ole Olsen Holen m 21 Vik Therese
13739 Bergen1870 April 20 Ole Pedersen Hove m 29 Vik Therese
13740 Bergen 1870 April 20 Johanne Hove f 26 Vik Therese
13741 Bergen 1870 April 20 Marith Olsdatter Hove f 2 Vik Therese
13815 Bergen 1870 April 20 Marthe Eriksdatter Lonne f 37 Vik Therese
13816 Bergen1870 April 20 Anfind Andersen Brudevold m 28 Vik
Therese
13817Bergen 1870 April 20 Lasse Andersen Brudevold m 16 Vik
Therese
13818 Bergen 1870 April 20 Cecilia Nilsdatter f 65 Vik Therese
13821Bergen 1870 April 20 Britha Johannesdatter Vigøren f 20 Vik
Therese

Bolded are the names not in the parish register of 1870 utflyttedes in Vik. (The two 20 year Brithes one in 1870 and the other in 1873 are different people, 1873 Brithe had farm name listed something starting with a G and the Brithe leaving in 1870 is plainly listed as Vigøren. I initially thought there was some kind of mixup in the records I think rather than a scramble in the records confusing two different events and people, I think they are just two different people, no scramble.)

If all goes well this should be a link to pg 14 of the Theresa passenger list on which Brithe appears:
http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/immigration/immigration-records/passenger-lists/passenger-lists-1865-1922/Pages/item.aspx?IdNumber=621&

In the utflytedes 1-10 are the people leaving Vik in 1870 before the sail date of the Theresa:
SAB, Vik Sokneprestembete, Parish register (official) no. A 9, 1866-1877, p. 315

Bygdebøker are a good place to find new information and confirm known information. It helps to live near one of the five or so Uiversities that have large collections. Even for those that live near one of the five, not all of them have all of the books on hand. A solution for me has been to use the services of the University of North Dakota. They have one of the best collections in the country and they are very amenable to doing searches, scanning pages and emailing them to you. They do charge a fee but it is usually reasonable and many times less than the cost for me to park at the University of Minnesota and look at the books themselves. I have been encouraged by the Assistant Archivist to give his name and email address to those that may be able to use his services.

So Nancy if you wish to have UND search for information on some of the families that you have encountered in your search for Betsy please feel free to contact.

Michael Swanson
Assistant Archivst
Chester Fritz Library

at The University of North Dakota.

email him at michael.swanson@library.UND.edu

You will need to provide him as much information as you can on the person or persons that you wish to learn about.

You can search the collection here

Looking at the passenger list for the Therese from Vik that Jackie posted above, it is likely that Cecelia Nilsdatter is the mother of both Lasse Anderson Brudevold and also Anfind. baptism 1 okt 1842 (1 Oct 1842). This family ended up in Iowa as Anfind was married in 1877 in Fayette County Iowa. Then moved to and died in 1906 in Chippewa County Minnesota.

Lasse Andersen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Lasse Andersen
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 3 aug 1854
Baptism Date: 24 sep 1854
Baptism Place: , Vik I Sogn, Sogn Og Fjordane, Norway
Father: Anders Anfinsen
Mother: Cecilie Nielsdr
FHL Film Number: 278156

Ole Pedersen Hove and wife and daughter ended up in 1880 in Minnesota. But had a stop in Iowa first. Their second daughter Gjertrud was born on June 26, 1870.

Gjertrud Hove
in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940
Name: Gjertrud Hove
Event Type: Baptism
Birth Date: 26 Jun 1870
Baptism Date: 17 Jul 1870
Baptism Place: Ridgeway, Iowa
Father: Ole Pedersen Hove
Mother: Johanne Ols??
Church Name: Madison
Church Location: Ridgeway, Iowa

I have not seen much connection between where these passengers ended up in America and the places where Betsy has been found such as Northwood, Iowa. However many of them did end up in other parts of Iowa.

The girl next to Britha Johannesdatter Vigøren on the ship manifest from Norway Heritage for the Theresa was Betsie !! Øhreim also age 20 but from Bergen not Vik.

This is likely her baptism record in Ancestry.com

Betty Olufine Jacobsdatter
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Betty Olufine Jacobsdatter
[Betty Olufine Ohreim]
Gender: Female
Baptism Date: 3 feb 1850
Baptism Place: Domkirken, Bergen, Hordaland, Norway
Father: Jacob Ohreim
Mother: Berthe Marie Hansen
FHL Film Number: 278099

Oddly enough she is not with the family in the 1865 Census.

http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1865&knr=1301&kenr=0001&bnr=0597&lnr=000

The whole family except for Betty Olufine left for America in 1866 and at least a good part of the family can be found in Chicago. Not all of the data is spot on but I would venture to say that Betty ended up in Chicago as well and that this is her marriage record.

Betty Orem
in the Cook County, Illinois, Marriages Index, 1871-1920
Name: Betty Orem
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Birth Year: abt 1851
Marriage Type: Marriage
Marriage Date: 11 Mar 1880
Marriage Place: Chicago, Cook, Illinois
Spouse Name: T. Emil Hersether
Spouse Age: 39
Spouse Gender: Male
FHL Film Number: 1030112

Not a good connection with Betsy Johnson here.

Ridgeway and Northwood are about 70 miles apart, Ridgeway to the east of Northwood.

Who were Gertrude's faddernes?

Are you able to access the baptisms about 1870-1874 of target Brithe's extended family in Iowa? She may turn up to be among the faddernes, a small invisible thread.

Witnesses were John O Hove, Endre ? Hoppestad, Anna Olsdatter Bra?, ? Andersdatter Hove, Anne Evensdatter Hove.

The writing is quite faded but I made a best guess on some of these.

Probably Endre J Hopperstad

If you are referring to ELCA records yes a few, even tho the title would lead you to believe that the records start in 1875. Here is one. Witnesses are Markus Hus?, Ole Eriksen, Kari Markusdatter, Eline Olsdatter.

Here is son Peter. With witnesses named Rustad. Haven't we come across Rustad in this thread earlier. Thered is so big it makes it a little hard to remember and find things.

Mothers last name seems wrong?

Witnesses are S? Rustad, Markhus Syverstsen, Thina Martinsd., or perhaps Markusdtr. ? , A.H. Rustad.

I had a busy few days and was just coming on here to add a notation that my email request has been acknowledged by The Regional State Archives in Bergen. It says they will respond as soon as possible within 3 weeks.

To my surprise I see multiple new posts which I will now work my way through.
