Hi!
I`m Mari, and for some time now I`ve been hunting down my great-grandmothers brother, Martin Nilsen. Martin was born 17.07.1867 in Brandbu/Gran in Norway. He left for America 14.05.1887 on the ship Drammen. He probably changed ship in Holland, but I`m not sure. He was going to New York, like many others. But after he arrived nobody heard anything from him, and his destiny has been a mystery for the family.

If anyone has any information on when he arrived, on what ship, where he ended up, or anything else, I would be eternally grateful if you chared it with me.

The ship Drammen was bound for Amsterdam, and Martin most likely sailed from Amsterdam to New York with a ship from the Holland America Line, probably arriving in the last days of may 1887. As the 1887 arrivals are not in the searchable Ellis Island database you would have to order or get access to microfilms or get someone to do a lookup for you, for instance at a LDS centre. There is one in Oslo and several in the USA.

Thank you!

I will follow your advice and ask for some help. I would subscribe to ancestry.com myself if it weren`t so expensive. But as you say, I can contact a LDS center and so I will.

Takk skal du ha!
