Hi,
I found 28 people living on farms called Høimyr/Høimyren in the 1865 census, click here and search for name of farm starting with Høimyr.

  • 0816 Sandøkedal og Skaadø, Kragerø parish, farmname: Høimyren, Peder Ols. with family + Halvor Peders. with family
  • 0824 Gransherred, Gransherred parish, farmname: Høimyr, Niels Niels. with family
  • 0832 Mo, Mo parish, farmname: Høimyr, Halvor Thors. with family + Lars Omunds. with family + Olaf Tronds. with family.

But how can you find descendants of Svenung Thorsen if he left the country...? Did he leave some children behind?

Jan

Or are you trying to find them in the US? If so do you have any clue as to where they lived or the children's names?

Svennung Thorsen 33 and wife Margit Tollefsdatter (no age) left Mo parish in 1862 together with the children:
Thor Svennungsen 5 and his sister Margit Svennungsdatter 1
(Fiche: Emigrants from Telemark)

Hi,
well then this is Svennung Thorsen's mother...
Margit Taraldsdatter (67) is a widow. Halvor running the farm is Svennung's brother.

Here is Svennung's birth record: click here
His father THOR LAERSEN is dead in the 1865 census.

Hi it was said that Svennung Thorsen and family came to Winnebago county, Iowa but there isn't any record of them there.
It seems that they just disappeared.
If some one knows of their desendants I would really appreciate hearing from you.
Evelyn

Hi Evelyn You didn't post to the wrong board. Just to use to people looking for ancestors
I didn't find anything on them. The problem is knowing what surname they took or if they even survived.
A couple of other message boards you could try posting to
Rootsweb
Cousins Connect
lutherans on line
The more you post the better your chance of someone spotting it.
