S/S HAVERFORD MAY 18, 1906 SAILING FROM LIVERPOOL TO PHILADELPHIA
My grandfather, Anshel Binembaum, claims that he sailed on the S/S Haverford that departed Liverpool, England on May 18, 1906. The ship supposedly arrived in Philadelphia, PA, USA on May 28, 1906. This is according to the Declaration of Intention papers that he subscribed and sworn to for his Naturalization.
In doing a search on the S/S Haverford I got to URL http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_ship.asp?sh=have1
The web page does not show any sailing for the year 1906.
QUESTIONS:
Was the S/S Haverford chartered to some other company during 1906? Can anyone advise me as to where I can find the passenger list for this sailing?

Thanks again. Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

We have no reason to believe that the ship did not sail to Philadelphia in 1906, our index is still a working project - not complete. What you should do, is to get the film containing the passenger lists for Philadelphia arrivals for 1906 from NARA. Go to the Records of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, 1891--1957 page on the NARA site, and find the number of the film you have to get. Then find out if there is a place near you, where you can go to read the film, a library or LDS family center (they can also help you lending the film), or a NARA research center. |
