Borge, do you have the Hull passenger lists for 1868 and 1869? I would like to search for Adolph Wattner there since I had a genealogist search all the Quebec passenger lists and couldn't find him. Also go ahead and send me another small passenger list I can transcribe. Thanks |

Hi Chris
There are no passenger lists existing for ships arriving Hull with emigrants form European countries. The only way to find Adolph on the departure side is by checking the Christiania Police registers (emigration registers). The years you want to check (1868, 1869) are not complete in the online version at Digitalarkivet, so you have to check the originals, or the films. If you are absolutely sure that he did not arrive in Canada, another source to chek would be the New York arrivals, in particular the Anchor Line was very active in Norway during those years.
As his wife was listed as a widow when emigrating, are you absolutely sure that he did not die in Norway?
I'll see if I can find another short list for you. |

I appreciate the information. I will see if I can get access to the films. Adolph died in 1911 and is buried here in Texas next to Elizabeth. In the 1910 census he says he emigrated before the family. Just going through one roll of the NY arrivals takes about 3 hours and I have 22 rolls left to go. I was hoping I could find out when he left so I could narrow it down. Thanks |

Hi Chris This may be a long shot but might help narrow down your search. Assuming Othilde moved back home (Skien?) when Adolph went to America, the parish records could have her in the Innflyttede (in migrating) list. That would at least give you an approximate time fram for Adolph's leaving. The records are available at the LDS. Carla |
