Ole Gulbrandsen pa Karihus signed out in the Nordre Aurdal Prestgjeld register that he was emigrating on Mar 22, 1856. I have been unable to find any database concerning emigrees in that year. Is there any archival data concerning that year on record in Norway? I woul dappreciate any clues as to where I might search. Thank you, Inez

1856 is a very unfortunate year, as there are almost no records for covering Norwegian emigrants in the period between 1850 and 1865. This is because the Norwegian ship mainly started to use Quebec instead of Quebec in that period, and the records for Quebec does not start before 1865. The Norwegian emigration records did not start before 1867. Below you can se a graphic guide that I made to records covering Norwegian emigrants.
