August Hansen, born 6/1/1855 on Tyndelsrud farm in Rødenes, Østfold, Norway, emigrated to USA in 1883 and his brother Martinius (born 6/3/1857) followed the year after. The family have reason to believe that August was still in USA in 1886, and Martinius in 1928. I don't have access to the USA censuses after 1880, so would appreciate any help or suggestions. They emigrated too early to be in the Ellis Island register, are there any immigration records for that period available per Internett?

Hello Peggy! Sorry to be so long in replying. Sounds like this could be the one. It's not my own family, and the problem is I can't remember offhand who asked med for the information. I work at the LDS Family History Centre in Moss, Norway, and we get questions from many people. So I'm tryng to find out who wanted to trace August and Martinius - might take me some time, as I seem to have lost the paper I'd noted it on, (need a clean up not just on my desk - one in my brain too!) but I'll get back to you - it may well be a relative of yours. My e-mail is <magineli@online.no>. Best wishes from wet and windy Moss. Margaret Strand
