I have 2 abbreviated words that I can not find in any Norge-To-English dictionary.

The 2 abbreviated words are Vor Fr. and Kol.

Here is a sample of each written in English. I can also write these in Riksmall if you like.

Due for confirmation in Vor Fr. church by reverend Kield Stub 3 April 1910.

Graduated from Aars & Voss’ school 1904 (as a Latin student), graduated in pharmacy in 1909, apothecary examination 1911, studied 1911-1912 chemistry at Pharmaceutical Kol. Institute.

Thanks,

Gus Marsh

Vor Fr. = Vor Frues Kirke= Church of Our Lady

Pharmaceutical Kollegial? Institute (in Germany? What is the source of this info?, as it can't be Lange 1888, do you have publication year/page no?)

Nina,
When I was in Olso 1993, I found the Lange Slektebok in the library. I also found some others, but the one that I had my eyes on was written by Albert J. Lange. I found my grandmother and grandfather Earl and Ruth Lange in that book. (see 357.5 on page 144) Then I can back to USA and started looking for the Lange Book here. I found that my cousins know about the Lange Book, but most of them have thrown it away. I did find one cousin in Kansas City, Kansas who still had the book. I am trying to rewrite that book into English at this time.

Here are 2 abbreviated words that I can not find in my Norge-To-English dictionary. The 2 words are entl. and inf.

61.6 Harald Henrik Lassen, born in Gran on 13 May 1823, died in Vemundvik by Namsos on 5 January 1879 as entl. infantry captain. Named officer in the 2nd “Akersh. inf. Brigade” in 1843, premier lieutenant in 1853, captain in 1863.

Nina,

Is the anyway that your can check the 4 Lange books that are in the Oslo Library and see if any of them are connected to the Albert J. Lange family who wrote the Lange Slektebok in 1888 and update in 1917
