I wonder if anyone can help me find this gentelman. He was born 24th of June 1908 in Fjære Norway. He emigrated to America when he was 15 years old. I have found that he died in California in 1960. He was married to Mildred and as far as I know they had a doughter, Florence, and I have tryed to find her as well , but no luck. . I would like to know where Henry Furre lived in USA ,and what was his occupation. I know that he used the name Henry Furre when living in America.

Believe this is him in the April 17, 1930 Federal census:

Los Angeles County, Fort MacArthur Military Post, Headquarters Battery 63rd CA (A.A.)
Henry Ferre, 23, single, patient, soldier U.S. Army, born Norway, immigrated 1922.

He died on September 13, 1960 in Tulare County, CA, his social security card was issued in California.

Florence Mildred Furre, born April 19, 1905 in Oklahoma, died May 3, 1988 in Tulare County, California.

Getting copies of their death certificates could provide further information, many times a surviving relative signed the death certificate.

This may or may not be of relevance:

Irene Furre, age 25, married Arnfinn Aglen on November 1, 1965 in Los Angeles County.
Kjellaug Furre, age 34, married Siegrist Elias on June 7, 1972 in Los Angeles County.

Recommend posting on Tulare and Los Angeles County message boards. Good luck

You may already have this information from the Ellis Island database:

Bjarne Bertelsen, immigrated to New York City on July 3, 1923 on the Oscar II from Christiania, occupation - smith, age 15. Closest relative - Mother - Severine Bertelsen, Skaregrøm, Grimstad. 5' 7", fair, blue eyes. Place of birth-Frivold, Grimstad, Norway.
Destination, Brooklyn, New York.
Fare paid by Father, Olaf Furre Bertelsen, 223-27 St., Brooklyn.

Mildred died in Tulare County but on the Social Security Death Index it said her last place of residence was Fresno which is in Fresno County.

Well, first I would recommend you post on as many message boards as are applicable; Tulare, Los Angeles County, Rootsweb surname, etc.

Their are other options that requires paying for records:

Ancestry.com Social Security database, you can print out the letter to request a copy of their Social Security Applications. Registration started in 1937. Cost is $27.00

Vital Records - order instructions for death, birth and marriage certificates. Can order online but CA has gotten very restrictive, hopefully, you may be able to order an Information only certificate.

If you go into the link for Tulare County, it will come up with a link for Tulare County Gen Web, there is a geneological department at the Tulare Library. You could write them and see if they have an obituary for Henry and/or Florence. Since you know their death dates, it should not take too much trouble for them to look it up.
They could also look up City Directories to find information.

Vital Search – California – has very limited free information, you would need to subscribe to use most of the databases, very expensive, cheapest is $24.95 for 90 days.
