My father came from Norway in 1910 at the age of 14 year old. He was born in Jan. 3, l896 in Norway. In the United States, he spelled his name as Thoroff Olsen Soberg. He told us that he took the name Soberg from the farm or boarding place where he lived. We are finding out that his name may have been spelled in Norway a little differently ( his first name). I believe that he may have been born in Vang Hedemarken, Norway. I found in the ship emigration site, that he may have been registered as Tnorsel Olsen Soberg. He sailed on the Carmania from Liverpool to Ellis Island. The papers listed his place of residence as Gratte, Norway. I would like to know if anyone out there can guide me to the right direction, like maybe the censenus records, etc. I would love to know about if my father has any living relatives there. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you |
