is there some way i would find out my grandfathers merchant service as a master seaman in Norway,a Master i believe is a Captain,his name was Olaf Pederson and he eventually emigrated to Scotland

It might be possible if you know or can find out where in Norway he lived.

he was from Onso ,i believe thats part of Fredrikstad,he was born 1856 and was a seaman when he came to Scotland at the age of 31
