I am trying to find out what ship my mother, grandmother, great aunt and uncles used around 1912 to come to Canada. They were originally on the passenger list of the Titanic but for some reason had to stay in Norway and sell property. I have tried the usual places but do not seem to come up with the proper names. My Grandmothers name was Lena Olsson, maiden name Jensen. My great aunt named Ragna Jensen accompanied my grandmother and her four Children Nellie, karl, Ragnar, and Alfred from Narvic Norway sometime between 1911 to 1914, I am not sure of the exact date. i would appreciate anyone that can help me to find out this information or where to go to get same. I do have my mothers birth certificate but I have not had it translatted. Thank you for any information that you may have

It's too bad that you don't have ANY information about the birth years of the persons you've listed. For example, you mentioned a 'Narvic' location in Norway - that could possibly be Narvik area of Nordland. Reading your description I'd think it possible that Ragna Jensen would be old enough to appear in the 1900 Norwegian census - possibly in that part of Nordland. But without knowing how old she might be in the 1900 census - such a search leaves at least 26 females of ages ranging from 37 to less than a year ... |

Hi This is most likely your family Click Here Lena = Oline Birgitte, Lilly = Nelly Spero is a feeder ship to England and they would have taken one of the Canadian Pacific ships from there to Canada. Click Here for a list of ships in the Canadian Pacific Line. You will probably have to check the Canadian microfilms to find out which ship they arrived on. Click Here for links. Carla |
