I am researching Andreas Johansen Braaten and Karen Hansdatter from Feiring, Hurdalen, Norway. Andreas' parents were Johan and Ronnag. Two brothers also emigrated to the US, but I don't have their names. In the parish register from Feiring I show an Andreas Braaten and Karen Hansdatter that emigated in 1883 a Lauritz Braaten and Maren Olava in 1881 and a Hans Braaten and Maren Hansdatter in 1885. I have no proof that these are the correct relatives but it sounds close The birth years are correct for Andreas (April 23, 1856) and Karen (Feb 11 1857). I have also found a family in the 1865 census in Hurdal that includes a Johan, Ronnau, Andreas Johansen and Laurits Johansen. The age is correct for Andreas and matches the date for the Lauritz Braaten in the parish register. I am looking for a way to verify my information or any information that anyone else has.
Andreas changed his name to Andrew Johnson and lived in Coon Valley, WI. Their children were John, Hans, Martin, Kenneth and Lydia.
