John Nicholas born in Arendal Norway 11-28-1828 this probably is not his birth given name. This is what I am trying to find out. In 1850 or sometime close he arrived in the states I think in Geogia. If anyone can help me it would be great as he is my great grandfather.Thank you

Where did he settle? Have you found him the the census', death records? Who did he marry and when? He could be in the 1900 census which would give alot of information, date of immigration, exact birth date.

The 1860, 1870, 1880, and 1900 census all have a John Nicholas living in Sutter, Sacramento CA. In the 1900 census it looks like his emigration year is 1850.
