Comparisons of the Emigrants List at Digitalarkivet with the actual Passenger List for the 1872 Høvding (Oslo Norway to Napier New Zealand) show the following discrepancies:
(1) The following persons appear on the emigrants list, but did NOT board the 1872 Høvding:
25067 Oslo 369 1872 30 Karen Helene PEDERSDATTER f u Pige 18 Fredrikstad New Zealand 1247 Norsk œ 5,- Høvding
25119 Oslo 389 1872 30 Julie GULBRANDSEN f u Pige 25 Kristiania New Zealand 1299 Norsk œ 5,- Høvding
25120 Oslo 390 1872 30 Elevine GULBRANDSEN f u Pige 23 Kristiania New Zealand 1300 Norsk œ 5,- Høvding
25130 Oslo 395 1872 30 Berthe HANSEN f u Pige 16 Fredrikstad New Zealand 1310 Norsk œ 5 Høvding
25346 Oslo 470 1872 30 Maren OLSEN f u Pige 27 (stange) Kristiania New Zealand 1526 Norsk œ 5 Høvding
25423 Oslo 501 1872 31 Justine Karoline GASMAN f u Pige 19 Kristiania New Zealand 1603 Norsk œ 6 Høvding
(2) The following person was found on the Passenger list, but was not found on the emigrants list:
HOVDING Edwin 30 Male Sweden Domestic Servt
(this one seems a bit strange)
(3) The following person was hard to trace because their name was recorded in vastly different forms:
25110 Oslo 385A 1872 30 Olaus OLSEN HELGRØD m G Grbr. 30 Bergh . New Zealand 1290 Norsk œ 28,- Høvding
= NORDBY Olavus O. 30 Male
(4) Still trying to determine if the 1872 immigrant (from one of two ships) known as Hans P. STOKKE in New Zealand is the following Høvding passenger:
25414 Oslo 499A 1872 30 Hans PEDERSEN m G Arb. 43 Kristiania New Zealand 1594 Norsk œ 24 Høvding.
Hans P. STOKKE's wife was Anne/Annie Kristine, and Hans PEDERSEN's wife was Anne (listed as Anne OLSEN on passenger list).
(Any help with sorting out the last one would be appreciated!) |
