I would appreciate help in the 1900 census. I am wondering where Chria is and also I am not sure what S. Land Krs would be. Thanks

Chria I guess must be short of Christiania = Oslo.
S. Land = S鷢dre Land, Kristianias Amt (county). Today S鷢dre Land is in Oppland county, on both sides of the long lake Randsfjorden.

Hi,
the Krs abbrevation would be short for Kristians Amt (county). Not Kristianias.

Later renamed to "Oppland" in 1919.

Thank you for your help as well. I appreciate this. Would anyone know what sv. means for status in family? Thanks

Hi,
do you have a link to the "sv" family status? Name, address?
It could be short for "sviger", which can be translated into "in-law"..., ie. mother in law, son-in-law.. etc...

Thank you very much for helping Jan. Here is the link to the census:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f00301&gardpostnr=8438&personpostnr=227961&merk=227961#ovre

The person it is under is: Olav Coldevin number 227961

Thank you so much. I couldn't find sv. in the status definations.

Hi,
I think Sv. here might be short for Svigers鷢n, ie. son-in-law. Does that make sence?
Could Olav be widow Maren Lie's son-in-law?

Olav is also registered under Lunner, Oppland: click here, and he is married to one "Otta". Could she be Maren Lie's daughter?

Olav Coldevin is born in Trondheim, his temporarily place of living is at Maren's house in Kristiania/Oslo, but his permanent residence is on the Sand farm in Lunner, Oppland.

Thank you Jan, I did find Olav in both census records. I will have to try and find out about Maren Lie - I do not know Otta's maiden name so this could very well be her mother. I will try and check this out.

I sure appreciate your help, Thanks
