Seeking emigration information on Andreas Ofstedal, born in Voss/Evanger area Sept. 1, 1855, and emigrated apparently in 1871. Attended Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, and served first in Fertile, Minn. Died June 30, 1930. Help appreciated.

On Øfstedal farm, Evanger parish of Voss district in the 1865 census a young man by the name of Anders Andersson (with parents and several siblings). He is listed as 16 yrs old which probably indicates a birth year of about 1850.

Then in ships lists from Bergen -

The similiarity is too much to ignore.

His (Andris Anderssøn Øfstedal) mother, father, brother Johannes, sisters Dorthea and Anna followed in 1878. His brother Johannes Ofstedahl (Øfsterdahl) was a minister (1884) in Winchester, Wisconsin and later in Grafton, North Dakota.
