My grandfather Georg Alfred Johnsson born 1878-03-01 left Gothenburg 1903-04-14 on the s/s Ariosto. His last adress wan in La Porte, Indiana. We have never heard from him and my grandmother married an other man after a few years. The ship was it destinated to Hull or London or somewhere else? Which ship could he been taken from Hull or London that time to reach USA?
Have you checked the Swedish emigration records for information about line or agent? The Ariosto was only a feeder between Gothenburg and Hull. In order to trace the transatlantic ship you need to find your grandfather in the Ellis Island records, or find more information in the Swedish emigration records which will help you narrow the search for the transatlantic steamship.
Thank you very much for yor quick answers and tips. First of all I will correct the date of the departure of s/s Ariosto to 1903-04-17. I have already tried to find him in the Ellis Island records without no success. But, I will make a neu attempt. Regard, Walter Skansare
